Create an account to keep your folders, bills, and activity in sync. Your password also unlocks encryption on this device.
Encrypted before sync. The service can see your account email and encrypted records, but not read their financial contents. Users still have to trust the app code delivered by the website. Keep your recovery key somewhere safe; it is needed if you change or forget your password.

Give each dollar a job
Your folders
Each folder has a monthly target and a real balance. Spending from a folder lowers its balance.
Set your starting balances
Choose the money currently unassigned and what you already have in each folder. This sets your starting point; older activity stays in history and won’t change these balances.
Give tomorrow a place in today’s plan
Savings goals
Track what you’re building toward and how far you’ve come.
Start a goal
Name the goal and choose a target. You can fund it from your paycheck plan or Available balance.
A steady path forward
Debt payoff
Compare payoff strategies and see how extra payments could change the timeline.
Add a debt
Enter the current balance, APR, and required monthly payment.

Estimates use the balances and rates you enter; actual lender terms may differ.

Paycheck allocator
We’ll fund due bills first, then suggest folder targets and goal contributions. Choose what to accept.
Build a paycheck plan
Your current Available balance can be used too. Every suggested amount is editable; unassigned money stays Available.
Add a paycheck manually
Record a deposit straight into Available without using the allocator. You can move the money into folders afterward.
This adds income only; it does not create a paycheck plan or folder allocations. Don’t also add this same check through the allocator or a bank import.
Saved paycheck plans

Confirming moves amounts between your app’s Available pool and encrypted folders. It does not move money between bank accounts or pay bills.
Stay ahead of the calendar
Bills
Keep due dates in view and get a heads-up before they arrive.
Before you save your starting balance, mark bills already paid as paid here. During setup, this only updates the bill status; it won’t subtract those payments from your opening balance.

A quick guide for your household
How to use Seed & Ledger
Set your starting point, give money a job, and keep your ledger current.
Start here
For the cleanest setup, use your account balance at a clear cutoff. Money already paid out before that cutoff is already reflected in your starting balance.
1Set your starting balances
In Folders, enter your unassigned cash under Available to assign, choose the tracking start date, and enter any money already assigned to folders. Don’t count the same dollars twice.
2Mark old bills paid
Before saving your opening balance, mark bills already paid. During setup, this updates their status without subtracting them from your balance again.
3Assign money to folders
Use Move from Available on each folder. This is an in-app assignment; it does not transfer money at your bank.
Picking a start date: Your opening balance should be the amount before transactions dated on that start date. If you enter today’s end-of-day bank balance, start tracking tomorrow to avoid counting today’s transactions twice.
Folders and spending
A folder has a monthly target and a separate real balance. The target is your plan; the balance is what’s assigned and available to spend.
Add a folder or edit its name and target on the Folders page.
Move money from Available into a folder, or return it.
When you record spending, choose the folder it came from. The expense lowers that folder’s balance.
A negative balance means you spent more from that folder than you assigned.
Paychecks
Choose the entry path that matches what you’re doing. Don’t enter the same paycheck twice.
Plan a check: enter its take-home amount and dates. Review, edit, or reject each suggestion; confirming adds the paycheck and moves accepted amounts into folders or goals.
Add a paycheck manually: records the deposit in Available without allocating it. Move money into folders afterward.
Import a bank statement: deposits go to Available. Review the preview and use folder actions to assign money.
Bills
Add the next due date, amount, and folder. Monthly is the default; one-time bills are also available.
Marking a monthly bill paid records a withdrawal from its folder and advances its due date to next month.
Marking a bill paid during opening setup only updates its status, because the opening balance already reflects that payment.
Bills are reminders. Seed & Ledger does not send payment to the biller.
Import activity
In Activity, choose Import transactions and select a CSV, PDF, or supported image. The file is read on your device; review every row before importing.
If the statement has Debit and Credit columns, map both. Otherwise map Amount and Type when available.
Check the preview so deposits show as income and spending is assigned to the right folder.
Transactions before your tracking start date remain history; transactions on or after it affect Available or folder balances.
Savings goals
Create a target and optional per-paycheck suggestion. Funding a goal moves money from Available into the goal; returning funds moves it back.
Debt payoff
Enter each balance, APR, and minimum payment. The calculator estimates monthly interest before payments and compares snowball or avalanche order.
The estimate is a projection; lender interest may accrue differently.
The displayed debt balance does not accrue interest automatically. Update it from your lender statement, or log payments to reduce it.
Alerts
Low-folder and bill reminders appear in the app when you open it. Alerts are in-app only; they are not sent by text or email.
Sign-in, sync, and recovery
Your records are encrypted in the browser before sync. Use your account password to unlock them on each device. Save the recovery key somewhere private; it is needed if you lose access to your password.
Your sign-in email is used for the account. Keep your password and recovery key private.
Use it on iPhone
Open the site in Safari, tap Share, then choose Add to Home Screen. The icon opens Seed & Ledger in its own app-style window. Sign in and unlock with your account credentials.
Make it work for you
Settings
Choose which in-app reminders you want to see.
Bank connection
Automatic bank syncing needs a secure connection provider and server. For now, add transactions manually and keep the ledger up to date yourself.
Add a transaction
Put it in the ledger and the right folder.
Add a bill
Keep the name, amount, and next due date close at hand.
Add a folder
Create a spending folder with an optional monthly target.
Import transactions
Choose a bank file or statement, review the rows, then import.
CSV, PDF, JPG/JPEG, PNG screenshots, and HEIC/HEIF images when your browser can open them. Files are read on this device; the PDF/OCR tools download when needed, but your file is not uploaded. Transactions after your envelope start date add income to Available or withdraw expenses from the selected folders.
Up to 20 MB, 10 text PDF pages, or 5 scanned PDF pages. Review extracted rows before importing; OCR can make mistakes, so verify dates and amounts. Possible duplicates start unchecked.

A quick note before you begin
Seed & Ledger is an experimental budgeting tool for personal use by invited testers. Please review what it does and what it cannot promise.
Not a bank or financial advisor. Seed & Ledger does not provide financial, tax, or legal advice. Verify entries, balances, bill dates, imported transactions, and paycheck allocation suggestions before relying on them.
Encryption is a safeguard, not a guarantee. The current version encrypts ledger records in your browser before cloud sync using AES-GCM. This is intended to reduce access to stored financial contents. It cannot guarantee protection if the website code, browser, device, account, password, recovery key, or a service provider is compromised.
Some account details are not ledger data. Firebase processes sign-in information such as your email and account ID, along with technical service data. This private beta does not connect to bank accounts. Do not enter bank passwords or information you would not want stored in your account.
Keep your own records. The beta may change, be unavailable, or lose data. Keep a separate record of important balances and due dates, and keep your password and recovery key private.
The beta is provided “as is” and “as available” to the extent permitted by law. Nothing in this notice removes rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded.
